Food and taste of the Monferrato
It might be the hospitality of the Monferrato, the pleasure of sharing, or the belief that family objects must be respected by using them, the fact is that at the Castagnoni it is not uncommon to be served breakfast in ceramic cups, an aperitif in glasses from the 1960s or a candlelit dinner with silver cutlery. These are natural elements of this resort, just as food is often an expression of the territory, during breakfast, in light lunches organised for guests of the SPA or swimming pool, in dinners in the garden.
It is not gourmet cuisine but rather traditional dishes, often cooked with local ingredients, perhaps from the vegetable garden or the orchard just around the corner. And while breakfast is always rich and substantial, the kitchen is open by reservation for lunch and dinner, subject to availability, for those who wish to discover simple ancient local recipes, for little gastronomic experiences.
And since Monferrato is inextricably identified with wine, Castagnoni offers an interesting variety of Barbera, Grignolino and Chardonnay of our own production.
Breakfast on the veranda is a must, with the sunlight filtering through the windows illuminating the wrought iron railing and the stone floor. Or perhaps a moment of relaxation in the library, amidst tables from the late 18th century and books of all ages, sipping a glass of meditation red.
And one must not forget that within a few kilometres from the Castagnoni the available gastronomic offering of restaurants with traditional cuisine is very rich, just ask!
