The main feature of Monferrato is the great variety of hilly landscapes, neatly cultivated or wildly wooded, exciting to the eye and challenging. This is pure nature, sometimes interrupted by the beauty of small cities rich in history and art, such as Casale Monferrato, Asti and Moncalvo, the smallest city in Italy. Places on a human scale where it is possible to meet a great food and wine tradition, famous throughout the world.

UNESCO heritage

The Castagnoni resort stands in the middle of the main Monferrato landmarks recognised by UNESCO as World Heritage Sites: from the Sacro Monte di Crea (Serralunga di Crea, 15 km) located on one of the highest hills of Monferrato, with its Sanctuary whose origins can be traced back to 350 AD, to the Infernot route, uniqueness of Monferrato and evidence of the wise use of the local pietra da cantoni stone. Starting from Rosignano Monferrato, these can be found in Terruggia, Sala, Cellamonte, Ottiglio, Olivola, Vignale ... visiting the Ecomuseum of the Pietra da Cantoni of Cellamonte (1 km from the Resort) one can better understand this extraordinary Monferrato experience.

Museums

Thanks to the MoMu museum network born in 2002, it is possible to visit eight artistic sites of utmost level, including the Bistolfi Civic Museum and gipsothèque, the Cathedral Treasure Museum, the Synagogue and Jewish Museums, all in Casale Monferrato (just 8 km away from the Castagnoni resort). A further 40 km away you can reach Asti, whose Museums Foundation offers international art exhibitions.

World-class wine and truffle

One of the best varieties of white truffle in the world, if not the best, is gathered in the subsoil of the Ghenza Valley, where the Castagnoni resort is located. Between October and December, this is the ideal place for those who love Tuber Magnatum, with the chance to accompany it to one of the many local DOC wines: from Barbera to Grignolino, from Ruchè to Freisa, today more than ever recognised among the best wines in the world.

Sports and activities in Monferrato

The enchanting natural trails that surround the Castagnoni resort will lead you to discover fascinating itineraries that can be travelled on foot or horseback, by mountain bike or more comfortably with our e-bikes that you can rent and top up, just like you can top up your own electric car.
For fans of outdoor activities, it is possible to try Nordic walking excursions or face “challenging” hills in quads! Concluding the trails with a glass in hand at our partner’s cellars of wine producers. And for water lovers, “Amici del Po” in Casale Monferrato organise trips on the river and excursions for families, enthusiasts and groups accompanied by expert guides, to learn the secrets of the largest Italian river.

Golfers will find the nine holes of the Monferrato Golf Club about 10 km from the resort, while the Margara Golf Club, with two eighteen-hole courses, is only 20 km away.

Between October and November, it is possible to experience firsthand one of the greatest emotions of the Monferrato: the adrenaline rush of the dog that digs in search of white truffles!
